Beginner dogs must be at least six months old to participate. These classes are held at Valle Verde Retirement Comunity in Santa Barbara.  Beginner classes are currently being held on Saturdays and run from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  for six weeks.   They are limited to ten students–and the classes tend to fill early!  Basic Obedience commands are taught, i.e., Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Leave It, Stand, and Walk on a loose leash.  These exercises are  prepartion for the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification and therapy dog training.  They also provide the groundwork for AKC Rally and Obedience competition.

Advanced Obedience includes instruction in the new canine sport of AKC Rally and preparation for AKC Obedience competition.

Participation in Advanced classes requires completion of a Beginner class.  (Days and locations of Advanced classes vary with the season.)

AKC RALLY WORKSHOP

Designed for any BEGINNER trainer whose dog can Sit, Stay, Lie Down, Come, and Walk on a loose leash. We offer two two-hour sessions as an  introduction to AKC Rally with set-up practice courses and training in AKC signs, rules, regulations.  This workshop  provides  information on acquiring AKC signs for your personal use and offers you an opportunity to come to ADVANCED Obedience  practice sessions to reinforce what you have learned.    Rally is the AKC’s easiest official title to earn for your dog–and lots and lots of fun to learn and practice.  The Workshop is offered when sufficient public interest  suggests a starting date.
