What's It All About?

The purpose of obedience training is to give you tools to communicate with your dog so it will learn to understand what you want it to do. An obedient dog is a superior companion because it will behave better at home, with other dogs, around other people, and in public. An obedient dog has more freedom and a much richer life because it can be taken many places with the confidence that it will be accepted, respected, and admired.

The American Kennel Club offers all levels of recognition to you and your dog.  For those who are interested in having your well-mannered pet acknowledged, the AKC offers the Canine Good Citizen title to reward your progress and achievements at the end of your first training program with the Santa Barbara Flyers. This is the objective of the Basic Obedience class.

If you become hooked on working with your dog in obedience, there are advanced levels of competition available to you in the AKC framework where you can actually compete locally, all over the country, and even internationally.

And there are other sports that an obedient dog can participate in--like Agility and Flyball. Your dog will just love these activities--and so will you! The Santa Barbara Flyers provides instruction in all these areas, and participation can become really addictive to you and your OBEDIENT dog.

Come on out for our next obedience class and build a foundation for a happy future full of play and freedom for you and your canine companion!
